Jennifer started practicing yoga in 1994 at the Sivananda Centre in Toronto as a way to relieve stress. She then moved to the town of Fergus where she continued to attend classes with local teachers introducing her to the various styles and practices of yoga. After the birth of her daughter she completed her teacher training with Monica Voss, Tama Soble and Paolo di Paolo at Esther Myers yoga studio in Toronto an 800hr certification course. In addition she has completed a one year functional anatomy and yoga for better bones training with Jayelle Lindsey of Living Yoga and Health. Jennifer continues to upgrade her skills by attending developmental workshops with Sonia Sumar, Yoga for the Special Child a basic certification course. Marsha Wenig of YogaKids, Teaching Yoga & Meditation to Children with Sheri Leblanc of Yoga 4 Kids,. She has also participated in retreats in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, England and India.

In 2004 Jennifer met her spiritual teachers, Swami Muktidharma and Swami Karma Karuna. Jennifer’s primary study and practice of yoga has been in the Satyananda llineage and has recently begun her formal training in this system at the Atma Centre,further adding to her extensive training at  Esther Myers. Satyananda yoga is a holistic approach to yoga combining classical Hatha and the many branches of yoga based on the ancient yogic philosophies of India. It utilizes postures, breathing, inner energy and meditation techniques to cultivate health, spiritual awareness and a total yogic lifestyle.

Jennifer regularly travels to India to attend and assist in retreats at the Bihar School of Yoga, home of the Satyananda yoga tradition. In 2009, she attended the International Satyananda Yoga Conference with Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati where she received her Jignasu Sannyasa Initiation into the Satyananda tradition. In 2011 Jennifer returned to the Ashram in Rikhiapeeth India with a group of students and received her Karma Sannyasa initiation.

Jennifer had been teaching yoga to children and adults for three years at her home studio before opening Awareness Yoga in 2010. Her hope is that the studio will create a path for people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels to connect through Yoga to increase health, develop greater awareness and build a stronger and more holistic yoga community. In addition Jennifer also teaches yoga and meditation to the Upper Grand Family Health Team in Elora,had volunteered at Portage for two years teaching yoga to teens living with drug and alcohol addictions. Jennifer is now in partnership with the Community Living Centre teaching yoga to adults living with developmental challenges.

Jennifer lives in Fergus, Ontario with her husband and two daughters.
